Jameel Shabazz! A Seattle native and a Franklin high school graduate, has been involved in community outreach and development for more than a decade. Currently Jameel is the youth Imam of the Al-Islam center of Seattle, where he leads young Muslims in prayers and helps guide them spiritually. As a co-founder of Team H.O.P.E (HELPING OTHERS PROGRESS & EXCEL), Jameel has used his position and Youth Mentor experience to work with various religious groups to collectively solve the problems that plagues our communities.
Jameel is the owner of one of the most successful and vibrant barbershops in the city of Seattle called J Styles barbershop. J Styles Barbershop has been one of the primary facilities where the community comes together to receive quality services and enjoy transparent and open communications on many topics that are affecting our daily lives in our communities.
As the Community Relations Director with ADYA, Jameel utilizes his expansive network and expertise with community development to add sustainable value to the progression of ADYA’s mission and vision. Jameel is a husband and a father of 4 beautiful children, a dedicated member of our community, and a strong advocate for education development among our youth (focusing primarily on youth of color). In his spare time, Jameel enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and has strong passion for sports such as Basketball, Football, Boxing, and many others.
